Dorsett Speed Shop is a third generation family owned and operated hot rod restoration business run by Daniel Dorsett. Located in Santa Rosa, California, our motto is ‘Honest work you can trust’.
No matter the project, we can restore, build, fix, and modify anything with an engine. Our goal is to ensure you have a good experience with us by providing a strong work ethic, coupled with honesty, integrity, old school craftsmanship, great customer service, and work that is guaranteed. We are extremely dedicated to what we do and we hope to share that with you.
About Daniel: In his youth Daniel spent many afternoons and evenings working with his father at American Dream Rods, restoring and providing custom work on classics, hot rods, and race cars. He’s been building, restoring, and driving hot rods for over 25 years.

Lewis “Slick” Dorsett
My grandpa, Lewis ”Slick” Dorsett, moved to California in 1943 and started working for Talmage ”Babe” Wood Cadillac. In 1960 he opened Empire Automotive. He passed away in 1973.
Don “Dyno” Dorsett
DON ”DYNO” DORSETT born and raised in Santa Rosa and graduated from Santa Rosa high school in 1966. He enrolled in the United States Air Force like my Grandfather. He went to Vietnam, then was stationed in Phoenix, AZ, where he met my Mom. They opened up Don’s Antiques and built Duesenburgs. He closed that shop in 1986 and moved back to California, where he worked for American Speed, where he later became a partner, then owner. He closed that shop and opened American Dream Rods in 1990 where he built custom street rods until 2007.
Daniel “Grease” Dorsett
My name is Daniel ”Grease” Dorsett. I worked for my Dad on and off for years. I was born into a shop, tearing carbs apart, sweeping floors and worked my way up. Then in 2010 I opened Dorsett Speed Shop in Santa Rosa, CA.
